Even if your system has more than three fans, it is important to maintain individual control over all of them. Usually, there are at least three fans in a PC: The intake or exhaust fan, either at the back or front of the case, the heatsink fan, and the power supply fan which is almost always at the back of the PC where it expels hot air. If heat levels are higher than they should be, these sensors quickly pass the information to the fans so they can adjust their RPMs to compensate and avoid any long-term damage to the hardware. It does this by detecting the components’ temperature level using embedded sensors on the board. The motherboard controls the flow of temperature information to the fans, thus regulating their RPM. The function of these fans is sometimes not readily available to the user without the appropriate software.įans are vital components of any PC build, but they don’t run on their own. This airflow helps to keep the PC performing at optimal levels but, in some cases, it can cause the fans to accelerate to an extreme level. Excessive heat is not good for delicate hardware components, and so the fans increase their RPM to help expel hot air from the casing and replace it with cooler air. When running processes like this, the CPU, GPU, and various other components begin to generate excessive amounts of heat. Some examples of strenuous jobs that a computer might have to manage are playing graphically-rich video games (EX: Cyberpunk 2077) or using video editing software (Adobe Premiere).

heat) while heavy-duty processing is underway. Usually, PC fans are loud because the computer’s hardware is generating considerable energy (i.e. As for the fan controls, Argus Monitor was the best I could find.Anyone who has ever had to put up with the constant whirring of a computer fan while trying to concentrate on a task knows exactly how annoying and distracting this sound can be. The way it was mounted was making a high pitch whistle noise.

Update: Turns out, it was my Noctua nf a15 making the whiney noise. On a side note: Damn the chipset fan is loud and whiney when it ramps up! Sigh* Is there a software similar to AI Suite that I can use to control the fan speeds of this motherboard? Thanks! What I like about the Asus motherboard is their AI Suite fan control where I can pick the temperature source and the fan will speed up depending on which temps are higher. The Gigabyte BIOS is actually OK and can live with it, but man their software is the worse! It's laggy and just crap. The only reason I went with the Master is because I've watched and read good things about it. I had an Asus motherboard before and to be honest, I prefer their BIOS and software. So I just got my first AMD processor, the 3950x and the Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master motherboard to go with it.
